MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES - FRENCH

Learning a language enriches the curriculum helping to create enthusiastic learners and to develop positive attitudes to language learning throughout life. The skills, knowledge and understanding gained  contribute to the development of children’s oracy and literacy and to their understanding of their own culture and those of others.

At Rowledge C of E Primary School, we  believe that the early acquisition of French will facilitate the learning of other foreign languages later in life. We aim to prepare children for the KS3  language curriculum to enable them to transfer confidently and successfully.

The curriculum champion for MFL is Mrs Emma Smith.  To find out more about how Rowledge delivers this subject please contact her using the following email address: e.smith@rowledge.hants.sch.uk

NATIONAL CURRICULUM

PUPIL VOICE

We regularly conference pupils to gain an awareness of their attitudes to a range of curriculum subjects.  Below is a sample of thoughts from a range of pupils about how they feel about the French curriculum at Rowledge.

LOWER KS2 PUPIL

"It is fun learning a new language.  When we have learnt some we get the chance to use the headphones and the laptops to test out our knowledge."

UPPER KS2 PUPIL

"We get to explore more French now we are at the top of the school.  We learn how to write and read in French too"

YEAR GROUP OVERVIEWS
