Hooke Court
Our Year 4 children went on their first school residential to Hooke Court in Dorset. As part of the curriculum they have been learning about world war 1, their trip reinforced their classroom learning and in particular the discussions about evacuees. Dressed as war time children with their gas mask boxes, they boarded the bus, waving goodbye to familar faces - knowing it was only for a few days, rather than until the war had ended. En route they stopped at Bovington tank museum, doing a short workshop based on WW1. The children had a wonderful time at Hooke Court, during their stay they cooked with rations, visited the cellar (which was used during the war as a place to take shelter if there was an air raid) did some code cracking, as well as orienteering, shelter building and a rope course amongst other activities.
